How to Shave a Sensitive Skin with a Razor
Date Posted:14 May 2018
Many men face skin related issues after shaving. There can be different reasons for it including having sensitive skin, a blunt or poor quality razor or little to no moisturiser. There are certain steps which you can follow while shaving if you have any of these issues. These include:
Take a shower first
A hot shower can soak your face, make the hair softer and easier to shave and will prevent razor burn. If you do not take a shower, you can soak a small towel in warm water and keep it on your face for 1-2 minutes. This way, the hair will become softer and you will be able to shave easily without having any skin irritation.
Cleanse your face
Those who have sensitive skin should cleanse their face before shaving to avoid skin irritation. Use a cleanser specifically designed for sensitive skin.
Moisturize your skin before you shave
If you have sensitive skin, use a good quality moisturiser on your face, such as almond oil, aloe vera or an all natural pre-shave oil before using a razor. Using the right products for your skin will make a huge difference by giving you a smoother shave.
Choose the right lather
It is best to use a good quality shaving soap, cream, gel or foams and a good shaving brush to experience the best possible shave for your skin.
Choose the right razor
There are different razors available in the market with various levels of quality and blades. For those who do have sensitive skin, it is best to use a razor with a maximum of 3 blades as too many blades can increase the risk of skin irritation. It is also a good idea to pay attention to the amount of space between each blade. The more space between each blade means the smaller the hair clustering which minimises skin irritation. Clean your razor regularly and ensure it constantly has sharp blades.
Shave with care
Rotary shaving with gentle strokes will ensure the blade glides smoothly without putting any pressure against your face. With every 1- 2 stroke, clean the razor with running water.
After shaving, wash your face with cold water to close pores. Gently dry your face with a towel and apply a moisturizer to keep skin soft and hydrated.
