Skincare for Men - 5 Tips to Follow
Date Posted:1 October 2018
Is your grooming routine limited to shaving and washing your face with a cleanser?
If so, it might be time to make some changes.
Though it may sometimes seem difficult, it’s not impossible to win the good-skin game. Are your skincare routine and lifestyle habits up to par?
“There’s no need for five-step peels or expensive serums”, says Howard Sobel, MD, a New York City-based dermatologist.
The key is to wash and moisturise regularly, along with a few other maintenance basics.
Here are a few skincare tips for men to follow:
Cleanse twice a day - Men’s skin is believed to be oilier than women’s due to high testosterone levels. Cleansing will help slough away dead skin cells that stick together and make your face look dull.
Moisturise - After cleansing, apply a moisturising lotion. To help seal in the moisture it’s best to apply moisturiser when the skin is still slightly damp.
Moisturising the skin will prevent cracks and dry, dull skin. For those who have oily skin or are prone to breakouts, go for a water-based product.
Stay hydrated - Drink plenty of water, as the skin needs moisture from the inside out. Just applying a moisturising lotion is not enough.
Alcohol, caffeine and smoking can dehydrate your skin, so avoid them when you can.
Exfoliate regularly - Removing dead cells is important as the dirt can build up which can lead to skin breakouts. Exfoliate regularly for radiant, healthy skin.
A good quality face scrub will eliminate dirt and leave your skin feeling soft and smooth.
Get adequate sleep - A restful sleep of seven to eight hours is vital, so consistently aim for this every night.
Improve your diet - Eating a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables is essential for healthy skin.
Integrating these skincare tips into your grooming routine will help with youthful, rejuvenated skin.
